Website and table booking for the Haymarket Belfast venue complex
The second iteration for an expanded complex, we redesigned and rebuilt the Haymarket Belfast website, showcasing their wide variety of new and existing venues, as well as promotions, events and private booking options, all built on a bespoke Laravel and Vue.js application.
Haymarket Belfast in numbers
The challenge: six venues, one site
Haymarket had outgrown the site we built them the first time.
Three new venues were opening inside the complex, and the original build assumed a business that stayed roughly the same size. A customer arriving from an Instagram post for one bar needed to find that venue, its offers and a table, without wading through the other five.
Six venues also means six audiences with almost nothing in common. A private karaoke room, a cocktail bar and a space for corporate events draw different people on different nights, and no homepage can lead with all of them at once.
Timing was the other pressure. The venues were opening together, offers change week to week, and anything that needed a developer to publish would have been out of date before it went live. The marketing team had to be able to do all of it themselves, on the day.
Our approach: built to expand
After a first, highly successful partnership with The Vertigo Group to create their original website, we were tasked with redesigning and rebuilding the Haymarket Belfast website.
Coinciding with the launch of three new venues within the Haymarket complex in Belfast's city centre, the new site features a refreshed design and a user-friendly experience that makes it easy for customers to find and book their desired venue, event or promotion.
Our proposal to the client featured a future-proofed, scalable approach that would support an expanding and evolving business. Having outgrown their previous website, we delivered a system that would allow the client to easily add and manage new venues, as well as bookings, events and promotions.
The site continues to utilise integrations with ResDiary and Roller booking engines, which allow customers to pre-book tables across all six of their venues as well as avail of their wide range of offers and promotions. We work closely with the marketing team to make sure the latest information is available as soon as possible, and the improved system makes organisation of content and updates across the entire complex easier than ever.
What we built for Haymarket Belfast
The second build for this complex. The first one worked until the business grew, which told us exactly what to design for.
A page per venue
All six venues get their own pages, offers and booking route, so somebody arriving from a post about one bar lands on that bar.
ResDiary and Roller
Table reservations run through ResDiary and activity bookings through Roller, so each venue keeps working in the system its team already knows.
Offers and promotions
The marketing team publish promotions across the complex themselves, on the day, which is the only speed hospitality actually runs at.
Private bookings
Separate enquiry routes for private rooms, group events and corporate days, handled apart from table reservations.
Events listings
What is on, per venue and across the whole complex, so a customer can plan a night out rather than just pick a bar.
Built to add venues
The structure assumes the complex will keep growing, which is the one thing the first build got wrong.
What James said
★★★★★
"Kyle, Luke and the team at Element Seven have been extremely helpful with the set up and maintenance of our new site. With a quick, efficient and proactive turn around from initial concept to implementation, the team provided us with a functional and aesthetic website that has performed extremely well for us.
"The maintenance and upkeep of the website has been excellent, with quick changes and regular feedback to ensure optimum performance. Highly recommended."
The Tech-Spec
Laravel and Vue, with ResDiary and Roller handling reservations so each venue keeps using the booking system its team already knows. The admin was built around adding venues rather than editing a fixed set of them, which is precisely what the previous site could not do.
HTML5, SCSS, CSS3, vue.js

Services on this project
Most of our clients use more than one.
Bespoke websites
Designed and built from scratch around your business rather than adapted from a template. Every page and every field is there because it earns its place.
→ 02Laravel development
The framework we build almost everything on, and the one we are most often asked to take over.
→ 03Booking systems
Take bookings and payments on your own site, around your own rules, without handing over a fee on every booking you take.
→ 04Maintenance
Updates, backups and security handled quietly in the background, so problems are dealt with before they become urgent.
